How to Stop Surviving & Start Thriving TODAY!
Are you ready to Say Goodbye to Survival Mode? 9 simple strategies to stress less, sleep more, and restore your passion for life.
How Did I Know I Was In Survival Mode?
Survival mode, for me, is when all I do is go to work, come home to cook dinner, bathe a toddler, help a fifth grader with homework, and go to bed — only to do it all again, tomorrow.
When I feel like I can’t catch my breath, everything that everyone does gets on my nerves, and I find a smile hard to come by. That’s when I’m in survival mode. So, what’s the solution?
Stop Trying To Do It AllIn the book Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, Crystal suggested the following:
- Create a personal priorities list
- Clear the schedule clutter
- Cut out time and energy suckers
- Count the costs
Crystal recommends that we “figure out the level of orderliness and cleanliness that works for you and your family, and don’t worry if it’s not the same as someone else’s.”
CREATE A PERSONAL PRIORITIES LIST
Plan the week’s meals during the weekend and grocery shopping, so you start the week with a full refrigerator. She also recommends sticking to a simple two-week meal rotation. It seems like I usually do this anyway.
In this season of my life, my personal priorities list includes being present for my children, being a supportive partner to my husband, and taking advantage of every opportunity I can to advance my career and finances.
CLEAR THE SCHEDULE CLUTTER
My schedule had become cluttered with everyone else’s priorities, instead of my own. I have put a halt to that! I have a free printable calendar if you need one!
CUT OUT TIME AND ENERGY SUCKERS
I have identified (and cut out) time and energy suckers like chasing down dead ends and rabbit trails, feeling pressure to sign up for every volunteer opportunity announced, and pursuing optional relationships that drain all of my energy.
COUNT THE COSTS
Each time I am presented with an option, I “count the cost” by evaluating what I will have to say no to, if I say yes.
It’s been very liberating and freeing to take ownership of my priorities, schedule, and commitments. I wish I had known this a long time ago.
Disclosure: I am so honored that I was a part of Crystal Paine’s Book Launch Team for her book Say Goodbye to Survival Mode (affiliate link). I received a preview copy of the book and have participated in promoting the book and special offers.
Here’s what the book is about:
Calling the super busy, the stressed out, the overtired.
You know you’re made for a more fulfilling life. With this book, you’ll know where to start.
You wake up tired. Your to-do list is too long. The commitments—and the laundry—are piling up, but your energy keeps dwindling. You feel like you’re simply making it through the days, not living or enjoying any part of them.
In Say Goodbye to Survival Mode, you’ll find both practical ideas and big-picture perspective that will inspire you to live life on purpose. As a wife, mother of three, and founder of the wildly successful blog MoneySavingMom.com, Crystal Paine has walked the road from barely surviving to living with intention. With the warmth and candor of a dear friend, she shares what she’s learned along the way, helping you:
- feel healthier and more energetic by setting priorities and boundaries
- eliminate stress with savvy management of your time, money, and home
- get more done by setting realistic goals and embracing discipline
- rediscover your passions—and the confidence to pursue them
Packed with straightforward solutions you’ll use today and inspirational stories you’ll remember for years, Say Goodbye to Survival Mode is a must for any woman who’s ever longed for the freedom to enjoy life, not just survive it.
