Temporary protected status for Nepal will end in August

This means that TPS  beneficiaries from Nepal who do not have another basis for legal status will need to depart the United States on or before August 5.

The notice provides an automatic extension of employment authorization through August 5.

With respect to Form I-9 reverification, as proof of continued employment authorization through August 5, TPS beneficiaries from Nepal can show their Employment Authorization Documents that have the notation A-12 or C-19 under Category and a “Card Expires” date of June 24, 2018, June 24, 2019, March 24, 2020, January 4, 2021, October 4, 2021, December 31, 2022, June 30, 2024, and June 24, 2025.

TPS beneficiaries from Nepal will need to be reverified when the automatic extension of employment authorization expires. If valid I-9 documentation is not provided, the beneficiaries will not be able to continue to work.
